Numbers, numbers, numbers . . . That’s pretty much Blogging in a nutshell . . . And its nuts, hoping someone will drop by each day for a visit. Most don’t come back and when they do, they stop when they stop reading your words. That’s fair enough . . . But does Blogging help a writer?
It was supposed to be a basis for building from and maybe it is or maybe it’s not. I write fiction and I write poetry . . . That’s two strikes against me. No, you say. Haven’t you ever heard people say, I don’t read fiction, I don’t read poetry?
And those were the people closest to me. What a load of Crap? That’s like saying, friend, I don’t read whatever you’re writing . . .
And so with two poetry books to my credit and a novel in the final stretches, you can imagine how I feel. And still I try to find my motivation to write my words. Sometimes it is so hard and other times the words just roll off my fingers.
And Blogging has become an obsession. It has taken something from me. Sure there are trade offs, but do we ever get back the time we’ve lost . . . I think not. So we down size the duties we perform in order to fit everything into those tight day sized compartments.
Bloggers eventually hit the wall and ask themselves is it worth it? I wonder . . . And still I write, but will they come? Do the right ones come? Marketing, salesmanship . . . All is not the same. What are we trying to sell? And that’s the question that keeps invading my mind. What?
Are our Dreams worth the effort? Do we quit before reaching our goals? Maybe we quit somewhere before the light, just before we make it to where ever we are going? I wonder, do you quit before you grasp the gold ring? Dreams are yours to share.
