The Gesture

. . .

What does freedom mean to you? Is it the same for everyone in the whole world or does it mean something different for everyone? Are there exceptions to your thoughts on freedom?

What will you give freedom away for? Safety? Love? Money?

I value my freedom, more than life itself. I love driving from state to state . . . But today you can if you’re able to pay for the fuel that is.

Isn’t freedom important to the American Dream, to your dream? I’m a free spirit . . . You should know that by now. I don’t follow the path laid down for everyone else. I’ve always gone my own way. That gets me into all kinds of predicaments, but I’m not looking for the easy button . . . I’m thinking of living with less, it makes a lot more sense than riding the wave.

I don’t want to be Bill Gates or Paul Allen, just Dan Hanosh, the poet, the writer of words . . . I want to walk my path and help anyone I can along the way. Do you believe in Dreams? Do you believe in Angels? Do you know they walk among us . . . ?

After my mother died, my father wasn’t doing well . . . My son was out of high school and he hadn’t figured his own path. So I suggested he go to a school close to my Dad’s. I knew they would help each other get through those tough times . . . It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

Anyway on Easter Sunday, we packed up my boy and headed south. My son’s were together in his truck, driving behind me . . . And I realized, I had lost my mom and now I was losing my son. My tears flowed. They ran uncontrollably down my cheeks. I cried for so long, several cars passed, I didn’t care. And when I stopped for the toll, the operator said; go on, someone’s paid for you . . .

Wow, I thought. Who was it I need to know, I need to thank them. So I raced ahead. And the car ahead acted as if they were just happy for the day, so did the next.

Then my thoughts turned inward . . . Someone realized my pain and they acted the only way they could. I am not alone, there are Angels driving our roads, walking our streets . . . And the rest of the day, at every tollbooth I paid with a five and told the operator to use it for those driving behind me . . . It was so small an act and so very powerful.

But thinking back, who, didn’t matter as much as why, so I thought . . . But now that doesn’t matter either . . . Because their why, might have not been the same as mine. They were celebrating the day, I was feeling my pain and together those two thoughts produced a remarkable gesture, someone had reached out to me, when I was at my lowest point. I felt the hand of an Angel, help me up. And now it’s up to me to help those in need . . . That’s what Angels do.

Hear the grind of the tires on the patch in front of the tollbooth, another Angel has just got his wings . . . Dreams are yours to share.

Hi Dan..Indeed dreams are meant to be shared. Otherwise, dreams are meaningless. It's a tragedy to hold on to one's dreams and grasp them tight never to let them go.

I created a link to your post at my blog, www.francoyong.com.

Cheers and keep sharing. Thanks.
